The Slope Safety System controls landslide risk by three key strategies, including:

  1. Contain risk from new development;
  2. Reduce risk imposed on existing development; and
  3. Minimise landslide consequences.

Control new developments
Discourage illegal cultivation and unauthorised site formation
Upgrade and maintain Government slopes
Issue landslip warnings
Promote private slope maintenance
Mitigate natural terrain landslide hazards
Educate public on precautionary measures
Clear squatters from hilly terrain
Provide landslide emergency services
