To enhance public understanding of slope safety and reinforce private owners' awareness of their slope maintenance responsibility, the Community Advisory Unit (CAU) of the Geotechnical Engineering Office (GEO) provide advice and information on slope safety and slope maintenance matters to the general public. The CAU has the following principal functions:
- Organize slope safety and maintenance seminars and talks for private slope owners and bodies involving in slope maintenance ;
- Provide a meet-the-public service to answer queries and provide information on slope safety matters ;
- Advise private owners or their representatives who have received Dangerous Hillside Orders on how to proceed with the necessary slope improvement works ; and
- Meet Owners' Corporations and Mutual Aid Committees to advise them on how to proceed with the necessary slope maintenance works.
