School Ambassdor Programme
The "School Ambassador Programme" offers various school talks for geography or physics students, including the Hong Kong Geology, the Applications of Physics in Engineering, Hong Kong Slope Safety and How to Become a Geotechnical Engineer and Geologist. Apart from the school talks, the programme also provides students with hands-on experience workshops which allow them to explore STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) and geotechnical engineering knowledge, so as to cultivate the next generation’s interest in technology and engineering. Activities include identification of rocks and minerals, soil particle size analysis, grading of soil and rock from an engineering perspective, simplified landslide and reinforcement model, experience how water affect the strength of soils, smart sandbox for demonstration of function of a rigid barrier, etc.
School Ambassadors give school talks
School Ambassadors introduce STEM workshop, students have hands-on experience on the exhibits
Experience how the landslides from natural hillside are intercepted with a rigid barrier through Smart Sandbox
In addition, the content of our exhibition covers various topics including Hong Kong geology, scientific knowledge of landslide, landslip prevention and mitigation, climate change, sustainable development in engineering and careers information.
The content of the exhibition enriches geography and physics knowledge of students
The “School Ambassador Programme“ has been received overwhelming support from secondary schools, teachers and students. We have visited more than 150 schools since 2019. It provides opportunity for the students to learn the application of subject knowledge and enlighten them on their plan of further study.
The "School Ambassador Programme" is open to schools for application.
