It is GEO’s policy to make the man-made slopes upgraded under the Landslip Prevention and Mitigation Programme look as natural as possible through the use of soft and/or hard landscape treatment. For natural hillside catchments, the existing vegetation including trees and shrubs is preserved as far as practicable during the construction of landslip risk mitigation measures. Soft and/or hard landscape treatments similar to those for man-made slopes would be provided for the risk mitigation measures as appropriate to minimize their visual impact and blend them with their surrounding environment. With this commitment and effort, we believe that our living environment will be greener and more harmonious. With the experience gained from providing landscape treatment to Government slopes, we have prepared a Layman's Guide to Landscape Treatment of Slopes and Retaining Walls. We hope that it will help and encourage private slope and retaining wall owners to provide landscape treatment to their slopes and walls when planning maintenance or upgrading works.
